Every year, the NCPA organises the Contemporary Dance Season with a view towards showcasing performances that combine innovation and cutting-edge choreography from some of the most prominent dancers of this genre from India and abroad. NCPA presented PADME, VORTEXT and PRISM by Anita Ratnam & troupe. Padme is a contemporary Indian dance performance produced by dancer, actor and arts' administrator Anita Ratnam and choreographed by Netherlands-based choreographer Kalpana Raghuraman. Padme brings together classically trained dancers from different dance schools, training styles and backgrounds.

UTSAVAM 2017, a performing arts symposium organised by Dakshina Chitra. The 2nd edition of the festival coincides with the 20th anniversary of Dakshina Chitra and will feature interactive sessions, discussions, and presentations by several prominent artists and experts, on the two timeless art forms - Carnatic Music and Bharatnatyam. This year also marks the 250th birth centenary of the legendary Carnatic music composer Tyagaraja.
